Christmas Caroling at Longwood Manor and Holiday Potluck
On the Saturday before Christmas, in a continuation of our annual holiday ritual, a bunch of us Buddhists dressed up like renegade elves from Santa's workshop and paid a visit to a local convalescent home, where we belted out holiday tunes and distributed teddy bears, lotion and other stocking stuffers. Then we headed back to the Hazy Moon for more revelry and yet another potluck dinner.

A few weeks after summer ango ended, Nyogen Roshi and a small crew from the sangha in Los Angeles visited the Black Scorpion, the Hazy Moon's sister temple in Santo Domingo, Mexico. Roshi and his traveling companions wanted to help Claudia Hosso Politi prepare for an upcoming retreat at the Black Scorpion. Tough work, but somebody has to do it!

Our afternoon of bowling in mid September was a big hit. Matt Kogyo Silverstein and Julie Snider revealed previously hidden talents during the outing at Midtown Lanes, though no one seemed fazed by the ample number of gutter balls.
