Introducing the Black Scorpion

Near the peak of Tepozteca mountain's mythic Aztec ruins, Maezumi Roshi's long-ago call for a temple in Mexico now rings true as a living echo of his teaching.

The Black Scorpion Temple in Santo Domingo, Mexico, was dedicated to the memory of Maezumi Roshi on Monday, March 31, 2008, when Nyogen Roshi officiated at the Eye Opening Ceremony. A contingent of Hazy Moon priests and practitioners participated as part of the inaugural sesshin.

The luminous temple adjoins the home of Hazy Moon Priest and Dharma Holder Claudia Hosso Politi. The surrounding hills, gardens and grounds are infused with golden light, rugged mountain beauty and stillness.

The Black Scorpion is being introduced as a private training temple in affiliation with the Hazy Moon. In the future we will announce its availability for open retreat enrollment.

At Play in the Empty Field

The backyard of the Hazy Moon was filled with critters and their people for our recent pet-blessing ceremony. The peaceful setting was accented with a gorgeous altar adorned with flowers arranged by the incomparable Gendo. Attendees of all different colors, shapes and sizes were all on their best behavior, having a great time with all of the festivities. Several people and animals traveled quite a distance to participate, and everyone enjoyed the beautiful ceremony to release all sentient beings from suffering and to actualize a healthy, joyful life.
