In April, Hazy Moon priest Karen Maezen Miller, sensei, saw the publication of her second book, entitled Hand Wash Cold: Care Instructions for an Ordinary Life. Sangha member Julie Honmei Snider produced this elegant trailer for the book, which is available through New World Library and other outlets.

A couple of weeks before the beginning of our summer training period, an eager crowd of four-legged critters and their two-legged companions gathered in the Hazy Moon's back yard for our annual Pet Blessing ceremony. Rev. J.J. Kyoji Anderson--who's kept on a very short leash by a certain rat terrier--officiated.

When Angie and Markus Nickol decided to put their careers as a judicial clerk and business consultant on hold for three months and temporarily decamp from Nuremberg to Los Angeles, they probably didn't expect to return to Germany with new names and a Dharma-family. But such is the transformative power of the Hazy Moon! Here are images from the double-jukai ceremony for Shinnyo (aka Angie) and Kansho.

The last week of 2009 and the first hours of 2010 saw a whirlwind of activity at the Hazy Moon: our five-day Year-end Sesshin, a mini-retreat on Dec. 31 for beginning meditation students, our dramatic New Year's Eve observances, and a festive party in the wee hours of January 1.
